Green Tea – Healthy And Tasty

The Chinese have been drinking green tea for thousands of years now. It’s said that consumption began around 2400 BC. Since that time, green tea has spread throughout Asia and it is now used both as a refreshing hot drink and for medicinal purposes. Recently, it has become more popular in Western nations – quite possibly as a result of the potential health benefits of green tea.

Claimed health benefits include, reduced risk of heart disease, lower cholesterol levels, reduced risk of certain types of cancer and lower blood pressure levels. Weight loss management is another claim made for green tea – based upon an increased metabolic rate. Not all of these claims have been clinically proven. Quite a few of the claims are based upon animal test results – which can’t always be expected to carry over into humans. Others are more observational and experiential – but there does seem to be a fairly large body of opinion which feels that green tea does offer some health benefits.

However, if you wish to try drinking green tea there are a couple of points that you should to be aware of as the preparation technique is just a little different to the traditional black tea that you may be more used to.

The first difference – and this is critical – is the water temperature to use. With traditional black tea you would want to use boiling water. With green tea the water used needs to be somewhat cooler. It depends upon the variety of green tea you’re using – so check the instructions from the supplier – but typically green tea should be prepared using water between 61 and 87 degrees Celsius. In general, better quality teas should be prepared with water at lower temperatures.

You may need to experiment a little before you find what suits your taste buds best. Try boiling the kettle and then wait two or three minutes before pouring the water in. That’s a reasonable first guess.

Secondly, do not allow the tea to brew for too long after you’ve added the water. Green tea is not supposed to be too strong – let it brew for a maximum of three minutes, possibly less according to your own personal taste.

Using water that’s too hot and letting the tea brew too long are the two most common mistakes when making green tea. The end result will be a tea that is bitter and astringent. Of course, if you find that green tea just isn’t for you, you can still gain all the potential health benefits by taking it in tablet form.

Organic Food Bars -Information and Tips

In many parts of the world you won’t find organic food bars, for one reason or another, they are more popular in the West. Such establishments correspond to a modern tendency of treating the human body and the environment in which it lives with more respect. As their general description suggests, organic food bars are bars in which organic food is served. Most of them are advertised on the Internet, and they are usually visited by tourists. Open in large metropolitan areas or very close to certain touristic attractions organic food bars offer a nice opportunity for a healthy snack. A bar is not a restaurant, and the best you’ll get in here is a tasty organic hot sandwich.

Moreover, in organic food bars, beverages like milkshakes, cocktails with fresh juices, deserts and snacks, all have to be made of organic food only. You could also expect a higher bill in such bars because organic food is normally more expensive. Verifiability is a problem with organic food bars. Some skeptical clients could easily doubt the organic nature of beverages and foods. While the average customer cannot go and ask for proofs, there are authorities that constantly check the source of the ingredients and the suppliers of organic food bars.

Depending on the country, and the local form of government, there are special regulations that need to be followed in order to receive the authorization to open an organic food bar. Once the business is up and running, advertising and smart marketing strategies can help it grow. People have to be interested in organic food bars to actually turn into regular customers. Yet, people’s trust and the reputation of organic food bars is built in time. Therefore, it is possible to see a growing number of organic food bars opening in the near future, given the growing popularity of natural products.

It seems that the organic food bars with the highest rate of success are those located in crowded city areas, preferably in the middle of business quarters where people go out for lunch and enter such places. Plus, there is a growing versatility in organic food bars because with more customers there comes the need to expand the menu, adapt to new demands and satisfy the clients’ requirements. Maybe the introduction of organic food in bars and restaurants is a novelty at the moment, but the 21st century will certainly mark a return to the natural.

Hence, we could easily qualify organic whole foods as a way back to natural dieting.

The Candida Diet

When the Candida yeast in your body multiplies beyond acceptable levels it causes an infection known as a yeast infection, or candida yeast infection.

The Candida Cleanse diet is meant to restrict the amount of yeast in the body and should be used in conjunction with anti-fungal drugs to assist with clearing up the Candida infection. This treatment of Candida sometimes works although it depends on the persistence of the problem whether you will solve your Candida infection permanently or not.

You need to remember that you can never elimnate the Candida yeast from your body, it will always be there, the important thing is that the yeast must not start multiplying and cause a fungal infection.

In order to clear up the infection it is necessary to follow a course of anti-fungal drugs in conjunction with the anti-Candida diet. The Candida Diet helps that the yeast in your body does not start multiplying again. The Candida diet starves the yeast in the body by preventing it from getting access to those types of foods that promote yeast growth. You will have to stay on the anti-candida diet for as long as you are still suffering from the infection. After the yeast infection has cleared up you can try and introduce the various restricted types of food back into your diet, however, if the yeast infection flares up again, you will have to go back to the diet again.

Foods to avoid are:

Sugar – Sugar helps the yeast to grow so it is important to cut out sugar. Even sugar found in fruit must be cut out, in fact, all types of sugars such as fructose, lactose and sucrose must be avoided. Avoid fruit, whether fresh or dried. This also includes canned fruit.

Foods that contain yeast, such as bread. This includes beer as well! Alcohol in general should be avoided since alcohol is high in sugar and sugar promotes yeast growth.

Avoid wheat and rye products. This includes breads and pastas. All carbohydrates must be limited in your diet.

Diary products must be avoided since it contains high levels of fat and a side effect of the Candida Yeast infection is that it limits the body’s ability to digest fat.

Any food that could potentially be ‘mouldy’ or fungal in nature – this includes mushrooms as well as some types of nuts. Nuts have a tendency to develop mould if left open for a while. If you do want to eat nuts make sure that they are freshly shelled.

Additives in processed foods are also bad since these often promote yeast growth. Processed and refined foods also contain high levels of sugar, which should be avoided.

So what CAN you eat?

Food that can be eaten as part of an anti-candida diet is:

Protiens – fish, meat and chicken can all be taken as part of the anti-candida diet

Yoghurt – this is an important part of building up the good bacteria in the body. Yoghurt is a good form of diary since it contains pro-biotics, which are essential for maintaining bacterial balance.

Vegetables – eat your vegetables raw or steamed to get the most benefit

Rice – preferrably brown rice.

The Best Fat Burning Foods – 3 Foods You Should Be Eating

I’ve found that people are usually shocked & surprised to hear some of my picks for the foods that are best for weight loss, fat burning and good health.

You hear about the typical “healthy foods” such as vegetables and fruits all the time, so I won’t bore you with those…everybody knows about those. Instead, I’m going to shock you by telling you about foods that most people don’t even realize can super-charge fat loss.

1. Egg Yolks – yes, that’s right, egg yolks…full fatty egg yolks, cholesterol and all, that you have never heard a good word about. You have been mislead about the cholesterol in egg yolks — it actually raises the GOOD cholesterol and helps balance proper ratios, so don’t be afraid of the fat and cholesterol in these little nutrition packed gems. And with cage-free eggs from free roaming hens, the omega-3 content is higher and has a more balanced fat profile.

In terms of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients egg yolks are one of the most nutritious foods on the planet. I won’t even try to list all of the vital nutrients in egg yolks — it would take up an entire page. Just realize that egg yolks should NOT be avoided in favor of egg whites. Even the protein is more bio-available when you include the yolks!

So start burning that belly fat faster — don’t be afraid to eat those delicious and healthy eggs.

2. Avocados – This is another “fatty” food that is actually a super fat burning food! Not only that, but avocados make just about everything creamier and more delicious. They are also packed with healthy fats, fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. The healthy fat in avocados also helps control appetite and fat burning hormones in your body.

You can add avocado slices or guacamole to everything in your breakfast, lunch and dinner, and starting burning body fat faster! I would definitely consider avocados one of the best healthy super foods.

3. While most beef you see at the grocery store is beef from grain fed cattle that are often in poor health and has lower nutrition values and less than optimal omega-6 to omega-3 fat ratios, there is a better option…and that is Grass-Fed Beef!

Grass-fed beef has a better ratio of fatty acids — much higher levels of healthy omega-3 fatty acids and lower levels of unhealthy omega-6 fats. Grass-fed beef also contains higher levels of many vitamins and minerals, as well as higher levels of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), which is a healthy muscle-building fat.

As long as you choose healthy grass-fed beef instead of grain fed beef you shouldn’t be afraid to live it up a little. You will really enjoy these so-called “fatty” foods and will burn more body fat as well!

How to Use Healthy Eating to Get Youthful Skin

When you practice healthy eating, its not just to keep your insides in good condition. It can also keep your whole body in good condition. This can mean inside, outside and your mental state. Fortunately, many healthy eating tenets apply to all aspects of your health. In fact, you can learn a lot from a healthy diet about keeping your skin youthful looking and wrinkle-free.

One of the most important parts of healthy eating is balance. Healthy living can apply to your skin in a lot of different ways. Just as you balance your diet of food, you also need to balance your skin’s diet. This means if you use a very large dose of vitamins in an anti-aging cream, you need to balance it out with a mega-moisturizer. So many of the vitamins that are going to help your skin from aging cause it to dry out. Dry skin can actually cause more wrinkles. The best way to prevent you skin from getting to dry is to keep it hydrated by applying daily moisturizers and drinking a lot of water.

While you are staying hydrated, some kinds of vitamins will cause you to be sensitive to the sun. You probably already know about this if you are taking big doses of vitamins C or A. But did you know that the same applies if you take these vitamins topically? If you use a vitamin-heavy lotion, then you need to be sure to wear a protective covering like a hat or sunscreen when you are outside.

When reading about staying healthy, you have probably read how important it is for a balanced diet to include nuts and other legumes. However, the types of nuts you eat can also keep skin smooth. Adding walnuts to your diet will help to preserve your skin. After your mid-twenties your body stops mass producing antioxidants, however, walnuts are loaded with them.

The truth is, most of what you put in your mouth can also help out your face. You can make a great facial from hearty vegetables. Herbal supplements are great for treating wrinkles. Healthy eating is, in many ways, also the key to younger looking skin.

Citrus Juice and Its Health Benefits

Citrus juice has significant benefits to offer that cannot be provided from other fruit juices. It is their high concentrations of Vitamin C which makes them highly desirable and beneficial to our health. Surprisingly, human beings are one of the few species that does not make its own supply of this vital vitamin.

It has often been suggested that we suffer many of our illnesses such as viruses and cancer due to our lack of Vitamin C. It is responsible for fighting the free radicals that causes damage to the cells in our body. Thousands of years ago, the picture was slightly different as we ate much more fruit than we do today. We have hands that are designed to pick and grasp fruit and so this was an easy food source for us to obtain. Nowadays, with the increasing popularity of juicing machines like the Jack Lalanne juicer it is now much easier to get your daily quota of fruit.

It is believed our bodies compensated by producing less of this important vitamin until today where we produce none. This causes us a problem as the modern diet contains very little fruit and, as such, our Vitamin C intake is inadequate.

Juicing has become a fast, enjoyable and refreshing way to boost our health. It is a natural way of increasing our intake of essential nutrients. There is no need to spend a lot of money regularly on expensive vitamins and supplements.

One of the greatest scientists of the twentieth century and Nobel laureate, Linus Pauling, was one of Vitamin C’s greatest supporters. He believed that many of the illnesses that we experience today were due to a lack of this important chemical. The amounts he used to advise though were very big indeed. It is generally thought that these levels were excessive and that we do not need to ingest quite such huge amounts.

Large amounts of Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, can be found in oranges and lemons. Oranges contain about 50mg of ascorbic acid per 100g of fruit and about 70mg per fruit slice. Compare this to the recommended daily allowance of 70mg. This, however is the amount recommended to prevent scurvy. It is scurvy that classically causes bleeding gums.

Buying a citrus juicer or juicer such as the Jack Lalanne Juicer Express is a good way to start juicing and investing in your health. As you can see, essential nutrients can be obtained in this manner in a healthy, natural way.
